SPRUCE UP YOUR HOME FOR SPRING!!!

  • ADD COLOR. Add different pillows, a throw, flowers.  Try some of this season’s new colors, like magenta, cobalt, hot pink, kiwi green, khaki, chartreuse, plum, teal.  Better yet, find plaids that mix these colors!

  • ADD/CHANGE FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS.  Try a new silk arrangement, pussy willows, or even twigs in a pretty container.   Take some houseplants outdoors.  You need less greenery inside because there’s so much green outside!

  • CHANGE THE AREA RUGS.  Roll up the oriental carpet in the foyer and leave the floor bare for a while! Or, add a new, lighter colored area rug somewhere.

  • BUY A NEW LAMP OR LAMPSHADES.  Decorate existing shades with fringe or beads.

  • MOVE THE FURNITURE!  A new arrangement gives new life to a room.  Use a piece differently than you usually do.

  • MOVE ACCESSORIES AROUND!  Collect interesting pieces in the hall and then try them out in a different room

  • PUT A LIGHT TABLE RUNNER ON THE DINING ROOM TABLE.  Put away the heavy tablecloths to really lighten up this room.

  • CHANGE YOUR MANTLE DECORATIONS!

  • USE SLIPCOVERS!

  • CHANGE YOUR CURTAIN TREATMENTS. Remove heavy draperies.  Try using lightweight summer sheers. Let the sun shine in!

  • USE LOTS OF CANDLES! Use them in lanterns, hurricane lamps and votives. Twilight and the slowly dwindling light make them really work for lighting.  In winter you actually NEED light bulbs to see!

  • CHECK OUT YOUR CHINA CABINET.  You’ll find things you love but rarely use.  Pretty plates can be hung on a wall near an existing picture.  Make a collection of favorite pieces on your mantle!

  • CREATE NEW CENTERPIECES.  For example, try a framed mirror, candles of varied sizes, and a small potted plant. Voila! An interesting and unusual centerpiece.
